Central Square

Central Izhevsk Square - the city's main cultural center, situated between boulevards and the pond's promenade. Here major city events take place. From the square leads a pedestrian bridge to the esplanade. The modern square arose on the site of old barracks and drying sheds of the factory. Among its notable structures are cinema "Rossiya" and Central department store built in the 1960s. Previously this area was part of the large Mikhailovskaya Square of the 19th century.
