174 Anti-Tank Artillery Division Monument Im. Komsomola Udmurtia

The monument to the 174th anti-tank artillery division named after the Komsomol of Udmurtia was installed in Izhevsk on Lenina Street near the park of cinema "Druzhba". On the parapet, shaped like an escarpment, there stands a ZIS-2 cannon although this type of weapon was not used by the actual division. Funds for the monument were raised by izhevsk komsomoltsy. The project was created by sculptor I.V. Kersantinov and architect A.E. Dobrovitsky. The division became famous for its combat feats on the frontlines of World War II starting from the battle on the Don in 1942 up until battles on the Elbe and in Czechoslovakia in 1945.
