Monument of Peoples' Friendship

Monument of Peoples' Friendship — the main symbol of Izhevsk and Udmurtia, installed to commemorate the 400th anniversary of voluntary union with Russia. Two tall steel pillars symbolize Udmurtia and Russia; between them are gold-plated reliefs. Locals call it "Kulakova's skis" due to its resemblance to ski poles. In 2008, reconstruction was carried out with added lighting. The idea for the monument originated in 1958.
