Monument to Friendship of Peoples
Izhevsk, shore of Izhevsk reservoir, near Central square
The Monument of Friendship of Peoples is located by Izhevsk Pond near the Central Square of Izhevsk. It is the main symbol of the city and region, established to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the annexation of Udmurtia to Russia. Two tall pylons remind residents of the legend about cross-country skier Kulakova, hence its popular name "Kulakova's Skis". The object is an important part of the city's route, helping to better understand local history and culture.
