Mikhailov Column

Izhevsk, shore of Izhevsk reservoir, near Russian Drama Theatre

Mikhailovskaya Column was installed on the bank of Izhevskoe Pond near the Russian Drama Theatre. The modern column was recreated in 2007 after the original's loss. The opening of the first column took place on November 8, 1852 by Emperor Nikolay I's decree. The monument is dedicated to Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich who served as commander-in-chief of the Izhevsk Gun Factory.
