Red Square

Izhevska Red Square is situated on the historical elevation of Krasnaya Gorka. Previously known as Mikhailovskaya until 1918 when it was renamed Red to commemorate the events of Izhevsko-Votkinsk Uprising. There stands an architectural monument - Mikhailovsky Cathedral built in 1907 on the site of the former chapel. The square serves as an important public space for the city and retains historical ties with its past.
