The Old-Tatar Sloboda in Kazan is known for historical buildings and commercial enterprises. It features former hotel "Bulgar", trading store "Amur" and an ex-factory now turned shopping center. The sloboda includes industrial enterprises previously engaged in repairing instruments and dental equipment. After demolition of old wooden houses modern residential homes emerged. The central part of the sloboda is occupied by a large shopping complex including Central Market and adjacent markets.
