Lobachevski Monument

The monument to Nikolay Ivanovich Lobachevsky was installed in Lobachevsky Square, Kazan. It was created by sculptor and architect N.N. Ignatiev and depicts the scientist in a state of active thought. The pedestal is adorned with emblems of geometry—compasses and a ruler—as well as a laurel branch. The solemn opening took place in 1893, marking the centennial of the famous mathematician's birth, who developed non-Euclidean geometry.
