Copy of Catherine II's Coach

On Bauman Street in Kazan there stands a cast iron replica of Empress Catherine II's personal carriage, installed in 2000. It reminds visitors of Empress Catherine the Great's visit to the city in 1767 when she traveled along the Volga River to personally inspect the remote provinces of her empire. This monument symbolizes gratitude from the Kazan people for the warm reception they gave the empress. The original carriage is kept at the National Museum of Tatarstan.
