Memorial Church of Warriors Fallen in Taking Kazan in 1552

Memorial church dedicated to soldiers who fell during the capture of Kazan in 1552 is situated on Kirovsky Dam in Kazan. Built in the shape of an unusual for Orthodox architecture pyramid under the initiative of architect Alferov, inspired by ancient Egyptian and Greek architecture. Inside the church there are remains of soldiers buried according to Ivan the Terrible's orders. Construction was completed in 1823, initially used as a monastic complex, later moved to its current location due to flood risks.
