Kazan War Memorial Cathedral

The temple-monument to soldiers who fell during the capture of Kazan in 1552 is located on a small island on the Kazanka River in Kazan near the Kirovsky Dam. This unusual structure has an impressive appearance and is undergoing reconstruction. It is also known by the names Temple of Ilya Muromets and Temple-Memorial of the Image Not Made by Human Hands of Jesus Savior. The place is shrouded in historical events and legends, attracting tourists and pilgrims.
