Blagoveshchensky Cathedral Kazan Kremlin

White-stone five-domed Assumption Cathedral built between 1555 and 1562 by Pskov masters is the oldest monument of Kazan Kremlin. Inside the church original frescoes from the 16th century and marble floor tiles designed by architect F.N. Malinovskiy have been preserved. The cathedral, constructed on the site of an old wooden church after Tsar Ivan the Terrible's capture of Kazan, serves as a valuable example of Russian architecture of the 16th century and today it is complemented by its history museum.
