Blagoveshchensky Cathedral

Blagoveshensky Cathedral in Kazan Kremlin is the oldest surviving architectural monument of the region, built between 1555 and 1562 by pskov masters. It is a white-stone five-domed church with six pillars, constructed on the site of an earlier wooden church after the capture of Kazan by Ivan the Terrible. Inside the cathedral one can see fragments of original XVI century frescoes. There is a museum at the cathedral that tells about its history. The cathedral is a significant monument of Russian architecture from the era of Ivan the Terrible.
