Mikhail Lermontov Monument

Mikhail Yurevich Lermontov's Monument in Pyatigorsk is located in a сквер near Lermontovskaya Gallery. It was unveiled in 1889 and is the first monument to the poet in Russia. The sculpture was created by renowned artist Alexander Opekushin, who also made the Moscow Pushkin statue. Architect Nikolay Doroshenko designed the pedestal. This monument has long been one of the city's recognized symbols.
