Mikhail Lermontov Monument

Mikhail Yurevich Lermontov's Monument in Pyatigorsk is situated in a square next to Lermontovskaya Gallery. Opened in 1889, it is the first memorial to the poet in Russia. The sculpture was crafted by celebrated artist Alexander Opekushin, whose work includes the Moscow Pushkin statue. Architect Nikolay Doroshenko devised the pedestal. This monument has become one of the city's well-known symbols over time.
