Proval Lake

Proval Lake is located on the southern slope of Mashuk Mountain in Pyatigorsk. It is a unique karst underground lake with bright blue water rich in minerals and sulfur. Access to it is through an old tunnel built in the 19th century. The place gained fame due to the novel "The Twelve Chairs". Today, the lake continues to be a popular natural attraction of the city.
