Lermontov's Duelling Ground

On the northwestern slope of Mount Mashuk is the site where Mikhail Yurevich Lermontov's duel took place on July 27, 1841. An obelisk monument was erected there at the beginning of the 20th century. The memorial point is an important part of excursions dedicated to the poet's works and his stay in Pyatigorsk. The slope of Mashuk, where the tragic duel occurred, has special significance within the context of Lermontov routes of the city.
