Church of Lazarus the Four-Days-Dead

The Church of Lazarus of the Four Days in Pyatigorsk is dedicated to Righteous Lazarus and is built of yellow brick with two domes and gilded cupolas. The site for the construction of the temple was consecrated on April 9, 1849, and during the erection of the modern church in 1902, metal from the old cracked bell of the Skorbyashchenskaya Church was used, the funds for which were donated by Vera Pronina. The temple houses the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow," which belonged to the family of Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov. On November 1, 1918, near the Church of Lazarus, the Bolsheviks executed 59 hostages, among whom were representatives of the highest generals of the Russian Empire.
