Lermontov Grot

Lermontov's Grotto is situated on Mount Mashuk in Yemelianov Park. It was built in 1829 along with another romantic grotto during park establishment. Known for being depicted in Lermontov's painting "View of Pyatigorsk" (summer 1837). In 1870, a marble plaque dedicated to the poet was installed. A stone portal appeared in 1878, while a memorial plaque was added in 1961. Iron gates guard the entrance. Previously, it had another name and was not associated with the poet until the 1860s.
