Mashtu Peak

Mount Mashuk, standing 993 meters high, towers above Pyatigorsk offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains. There is a cable car here, while on its slopes are notable attractions such as Eolian Harp, Diana's Grotto and sculpture "Eagle". On clear days from the peak one can see the Caucasian Mountains including Elbrus. The development of the town is linked to mineral springs situated on its slopes. The foot of Mashuk became the site for the historical development of Pyatigorsk's architecture.
