Elsa's Dacha

Elza's Dacha in Pyatigorsk is a pseudo-Romanesque mansion made of yellow brick with towers, terraces, and balconies, built in the early 20th century. The hotel of the owner, Elizaveta Gukasova, after whom the house is named, had about 62 rooms and was advertised in a 1913 guidebook for its magnificent views of Elbrus and the Main Caucasus Range. Near the house were the Emanuelovsky Park and a Narzan spring, and a tram route to the Proval also passed nearby. Despite the luxurious conditions, in 1916 the owner was fined for arbitrarily raising accommodation prices.
