Rostov Zoo

Rostov Zoo is situated in Rostov-on-Don city on Zoologicheskaya Street. Its territory covers 56.97 hectares and includes exhibits of over 7,500 animals representing 509 species from all continents. Among them are fourteen rare fauna representatives listed in the Red Book of the Rostov Region. There are also preserved valuable trees of regional historical significance. The zoo's history dates back to 1923 when it was organized as a nature lovers' circle at one of the city's schools. Today, the zoo offers visitors ten year-round exhibitions and serves as an important regional conservation site.
