The Rostov Academic Drama Theatre named after Maxim Gorky was founded in 1863. Restored after destruction in 1963 and rebuilt in 1935 in the style of late constructivism. Today, the theater is located on the Theater Square and has two stages. The building is an important architectural landmark of the city.
