Покровский сквер

Pokrovsky Square is located on Bolshaya Sadovaya Street in Rostov-on-Don. Its main attraction is Pokrovsky Church, whose history is linked to Saint Anna Fortress founded in 1735. In 1909, Novopokrovskaya Church was consecrated; its construction began in 1897 with funds from merchant G.G. Pustovoytov. A monument to Empress Elizabeth Pyotrovna stands before the church, unveiled in 2007.
