Pokrovsky Square

Pokrovsky Sqare is situated on Bolshaya Sadovaya Street in Rostov-on-Don. Its main attraction is Pokrovsky Church, whose history is linked to Saint Anna Fortress founded in 1735. A monument to Empress Elizabeth Pyotrovna has been installed there; previously there was a monument to Sergey Kirov. Modern construction includes the new Staro-Pokrovsky Church forming with the square an integral architectural ensemble. The place is named after the historical Pokrovskaya church which used to be located here.
