Soviet Square

The Square of Soviets in Rostov-on-Don emerged on the city's outskirts. Originally there stood a temporary church which was later replaced by a stone cathedral demolished in the 1930s. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the square has been an important trading area with a large market. Today only one building from the pre-revolutionary ensemble remains - the bank's office. In the 1950s modern administrative structures were added.
