M. V. Shirman's Apartment Building (Russia Insurance Company Building, 1914)

The revenue house of M. V. Shirman, known as the House of the Insurance Company "Russia", was erected in 1914 according to the design of architect A. Kh. Zakiev on the site of a purchased plot. The building is an object of cultural heritage, and in 1983 a memorial plaque about Vladimir Mayakovsky's speech was installed on its facade. During the Soviet era, the first city detachment of the "Spartak" society was formed here, and the house was transferred to the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs before the Great Patriotic War. In the post-war years, the first floor of the building housed a puppet theater.
