Botanical Garden-Institute of DVO RAS is located in Vladivostok at Makovsky Street, 142. It is the largest botanical garden on the Far East with a collection of over five thousand plant species and living plant collections exceeding 5,500 taxa. The total area of the garden is approximately 169.5 hectares, including forest territory with 535 local plant species. The garden was founded with support from the Bureau of the Council of Branches and Bases of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1946 and officially assigned to it by the Vladivostok City Council in January 1948 due to efforts by professors Boris Kolesnikov and Nikolay Kabanov.
