Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre named after P.I. Tchaikovsky

Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre named after P.I. Tchaikovsky is the oldest regional musical theatre founded in 1870. It was here that the opera "Ivan Susanin" by Mikhail Glinka premiered, and the history of ballet began in 1926 with the performance of "Giselle". The theater is unique as it is the sole Russian venue where all ten operas and three ballets by Pyotr Tchaikovsky were presented. During World War II, it temporarily hosted the Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Kirov.
