Yuri Gagarin Monument

Yuri Gagarin Monument in Orenburg is situated on Gagarin Avenue. The pedestal is made of granite, while the bronze figure of an astronaut about 3.8 meters tall symbolizes his aspiration to space. Behind the figure there are two steel pillars of different heights. The sculptor is Y.L. Chernov, architects are G.G. Isakovich and A.I. Agaponov. The monument was opened to commemorate the 25th anniversary of man's first flight into space and it is a regional cultural heritage site.
