Valery Chkalov Monument

In Orenburg, on the bank of the Ural River, there stands a monument to Valery Chkalov. The sculpture was made in Moscow workshops of the Art Fund and depicts the pilot after an important flight. The monument is placed on a granite pedestal and can be seen from Soviet Street. The authors of the monument are sculptor Isaac Mendeleiev and architect V.S. Andreev. The monument is connected with the aviation history of the city and the flying school. Orenburg bore the name Chkalov from 1938 to 1957.
