House of Memory

The House of Memory in Orenburg, built according to the design of architect S. E. Smirnov, serves to perpetuate the memory of the city's residents. The museum stores information about those who died in military conflicts, and the names of internationalist soldiers and liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident are carved on marble plaques. Since 1999, the "Book of Memory" with the names of citizens who died during the past year has been published here annually, and the database contains data about those buried in the city since 1900. Separate plaques are dedicated to police officers who died in the line of duty.
