Vakhtangov Theatre

Academic Russian Theater named after E. Vakhtangov - the oldest dramatic theater of Northern Caucasus founded in 1869. Located in the center of Vladikavkaz on Lenin Square, 3. The stage of the theater hosted performances of various genres before the revolution. In 1996 the theater was named after Evgeniy Vakhtangov and awarded the title "academic". The first performance took place on April 15, 1871 with the play "Masquerade" by M.Yu. Lermontov.
