Vyborg City Wall

Vyborg, Vyborgskaya Street, by the Round Tower

Vyborg City Wall - historical monument built in the 15th century to protect the city. Originally consisted of ten towers, two of which have survived until our days: Ratushnaya and Round. Towers served as protection for the city's gates. The wall had a width of about 2.5 meters and a height ranging from 5 to 6 meters. Most of the structure was destroyed in the 18th and 19th centuries, and partially dismantled in the 1860s to free up space for city expansion. Today only remnants of coastal ramparts can be seen.
