Suur-Meriyoki Mansion

Vyborg, Kharitonova Street, 56

The Suur-Meriyoki Estate in Vyborg has a rich history dating back to the 16th century. Villa known as "Forest Palace" was built from 1901 to 1904 according to plans by Hermann Gesellius, Armas Lindgren and Eliel Saarinen. In 1937 it hosted the first internal flight of airline Aero Oy (present-day Finnair). The estate also preserves an observatory constructed in 1910 and granite arch with flower room belonging to mistress Cornelia Neuschlößer. Composer Alexander Glazunov worked here during summer of 1881 composing musical pieces.
