Saarela Mansion is situated near Kroonaholm in Viipuri. The estate dates back to the 18th century when Empress Catherine II presented it to Count Steingel. In the mid-19th century General Governor Steingel and his daughter managed the property. By the late 19th century the mansion was owned by merchant councillor Juho Halenbergh under whom a brickworks was founded on Tammsuu. During World War II defense lines passed through the grounds of the estate. In the 1920s a dairy school was housed there.
