Red Square

Vyborg, Krasnaya Square

Red Square in Vyborg is known for its historical fairs held in spring and autumn. It used to have a Red Well whose casing was painted red. The northern part of the square previously was the bottom of Salakka-Lahden bay. Among architectural monuments there are houses "Arina" (built in 1902/1903) designed by Swedish architects, and a seven-storey building of Vyborgskoe Rural Community (1929-1932) by architect Ylmar Lankinen. Also on the square are buildings "Otso", where the Music Institute and Polish consulate were situated, and a three-storey building of company "Kulma" (1938).
