Central Park of Culture and Rest named after M. I. Kalinin

Vyborg, Battery Hill, Kalinin Central Park

Central Park of Culture and Rest named after M.I. Kalinin is situated on Battery Hill elevation in Vyborg. Fortifications from the Russo-Japanese war era were completed in 1913 here. After the area was cleared by troops in 1965, the hill became greened over. Originally it was planned to create an imposing entrance to the park via Lenina Avenue but this project remained unfinished. The hill is known for defensive battles in 1944 and serves as a memorial site. Additionally, the amusement park removed its observation wheel which operated for more than twenty-five years.
