Alvar Aalto Library
Vyborg, Suvorov Avenue, 4
Alvar Aalto's Vyborg Library, situated at Suvorova Prospect 4, is the central city library designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto from 1933 to 1935. The building is known for its wave-like acoustic ceiling in the lecture hall, which was restored according to original plans after war damage. The library was renovated and received prestigious international awards in 2014. It stands out with white plasterwork and blue stones near the entrance. During World War II, the library survived due to its favorable location.
