The Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum of Local Lore was founded in 1889 by I.A. and Yu.P. Matveev. The collection includes a unique complete mammoth skeleton and the only stegosaurus skeleton in Russia. Among the exhibits are rare artifacts, including epistolary heritage of the Decembrists, personal belongings of artists V.I. Surikov and V.P. Astafyev, as well as souvenirs of singer D.A. Khvorostovsky. One can see autographs of historical figures such as Grigory Rasputin and Napoleon. The museum's exhibition area exceeds 4,000 sq.m., while its collections contain over 700,000 items, making it the largest one beyond the Urals.
