Obelisk in Honor of 200th Anniversary of Kuban Cossack Army

Obelisk commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Kuban Cossack Army was installed in Krasnodar on Krasnaya Street. On the eastern side of the monument there is an initials of Pyotr I and mention of involvement of Khoperskoye Cossacks in capturing Azov. The western side features Catherine II's initials and appeal to Black Sea Cossacks descended from Zaporozhian Cossacks. Originally it was about 14 meters high, made of Caucasian stone and decorated with iron plates and bas-reliefs. Restored in 1999 according to sculptor Alexander Apolonov's design and architect Oleg Kobzar's plan.
