Archip Osipov Monument

The Archip Osipov Monument is situated in the village of Arkhipo-Osinka near the site of former Mikhailovskoye Fortification. It is an iron lacy cross erected in memory of Private Archip Osipov who died defending the fortification in 1840. He became famous for detonating the powder magazine along with ammunition before his death. The memorial honors the hero soldier serving in the 77th Tengin Infantry Regiment. The cross stands on the former fortification rampart; nearby there is also a museum complex opened since 2005.
