Theater Square

Theater Square is the central square of Kirov city. It features Kirov Drama Theater and the building of the regional government. Originally called Grain Square as grain and flour were traded there. In 1784 it was planned according to Vyatka's regular layout. A theater building was constructed in the 1870s. The central spot is occupied by a monument to V.I. Lenin installed in 1970. Since 1989 the square has again been named Theatrical Square.
