Theatre Square

Kirov's Theatre Square, which emerged according to the 1784 regular plan of Vyatka and was previously called Bread Square, is the central administrative, educational, and cultural square of the city. Its modern appearance was formed gradually: in 1939, the building of the Drama Theater appeared here, in 1949 — the House of Soviets, and in the 1950s and in 1968, the square was expanded. Today, it houses the Kirov Drama Theater, the building of the Government of Kirov Oblast, and a monument to V. I. Lenin, opened in 1970.
