Monument to Grigory Bulatov - Victory Standard-Bearer
Kirov, Victory Park
The monument to Grigory Bulatov in Kirov is located in Victory Park and is dedicated to a private-scout who, on April 30, 1945, took part in hoisting one of the first red banners over the Reichstag. The bronze sculpture, about 2.5 meters high, depicts a young soldier in military uniform with a PPSh submachine gun and medals, and behind his figure rises a symbolic banner. The monument appeared thanks to the years-long work of researchers and public activists who collected evidence of Bulatov's feat, and it was unveiled in 2015. The author of the monument is the sculptor Salavat Shcherbakov, and the statue itself was made at the "LitArt" enterprise in Zhukovsky.
