Monument to Hero Firefighters and Liquidators of Chernobyl

The monument to the heroic firefighters and Chernobyl liquidators is located on the territory of the Vyatka Training and Rescue Center "Prometheus" in Kirov. It is a memorial stone with a plaque on which the names of the first 26 people who faced the deadly threat of the 20th-century accident are engraved, among whom three firefighters received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Nearby is a separate memorial complex for the deceased firefighters, and over time, an open-air museum of equipment with samples of machines from the 1980s that worked at the disaster site appeared near the stone. The monument reminds of the contribution of approximately 4,500 Kirov residents to the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident.
