Alexander Vitberg Monument

The monument to Alexander Vitberg in Kirov is a bronze portrait installed on a low granite pedestal in front of the historic building known as the Vitberg House. The bust was created by sculptors Klara Kotsiyenko and Vladimir Bondarev based on the architect's self-portrait discovered in the Alexander Herzen Museum, which allowed them to accurately reproduce his facial features. The monument's composition incorporates elements of the ancient Ionic order, and it is set against the backdrop of the colonnade of the house where Vitberg lived in 1836–1837 during his exile. While in Vyatka, the architect painted a portrait of the young Herzen, became a mentor to Dmitry Charushin, and developed a design for the fence and the ceremonial entrance to Alexander Garden.
