To The Glory Not To Fade, To Traditions To Live! Monument

The monument "To Glory Never Fade, to Traditions Live!" in Kirov features a MiG-29UB aircraft installed opposite the Lepse plant, an initiative of the plant's general director, Gennady Mamaev. A time capsule is placed inside the fighter jet's cockpit, which is planned to be opened in 2041 for the plant's centenary. The composition by sculptor Evgeny Shklyaev contains hidden symbols: metal, gears, and circuit boards, while its internal configuration resembles the dome of the Church of Elijah the Prophet — the patron saint of aeronauts. The monument is dedicated to the development of the aviation industry and the feat of the plant workers during the Great Patriotic War, when 130 of the 770 employees who went to the front did not return.
