Eternal Flame Memorial Complex

The memorial complex "Eternal Flame" in Kirov, dedicated to the memory of the city's residents who died in the Great Patriotic War, was solemnly opened on May 9, 1967, on the high bank of the Vyatka River. The central element of the memorial is a white octagonal concrete obelisk 12 meters high, with semicircular wings on both sides featuring bas-reliefs "Motherland - to the Fallen Soldiers" and "Soldiers". Poetic lines by the front-line soldier Ovidi Lyubovikov are carved on the side wings, immortalizing the memory of fellow countrymen in poetry. The Eternal Flame burns at the foot of the obelisk, and the complex itself serves as a venue for commemorative events.
