M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin House Museum

The M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin House-Museum in Kirov is located in a building where the lifestyle of the mid-19th century is recreated using antique furniture, books, and documents. The writer's personal belongings have hardly been preserved, so the exposition is dedicated to the life of a provincial official of that time, and the new 2024 exhibition explains the reasons for his exile. The museum, which opened on a voluntary basis in 1968, has been a department of the Kirov Regional Museum of Local Lore since 1971 and shows the connection between Vyatka impressions and the creation of "Provincial Sketches." In September 2025, the exhibition "Estate on Voznesenskaya" opened here, dedicated to the history of the estate and the pre-revolutionary name of Lenina Street.
