Alexander Church (Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus)

Alexander Church in Kirov is the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, built in 1899–1903 according to the design of Warsaw architect Voytsekhovsky. The main facade of the building is decorated with a portico with a triangular pediment and two symmetrical bell towers, and its name is associated with the dedication to the memory of Emperor Alexander III. In 1933, the church was closed, and its building was transferred to the Veterinary Institute, after which in 1989 it was returned for restoration. Since 1993, a concert hall of organ music has been located here, housing an organ by the German company Hugo Mayer with 1538 pipes and 26 stops.
