Alexandro-Nevsky Cathedral

Alexandro-Nevsky Cathedral was located on the territory of Yuri Gagarin Park, previously known as Bread Square. It was built from 1839 to 1864 according to architect A.L.Vitberg's project in memory of Emperor Alexander I's visit to Vyatka in 1824. Funds were collected voluntarily throughout the Vyatskaya province. It was blown up in 1937. Nearby stood a bust of Alexander III, installed in 1896.
