Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on the Rampart

Stonecut Church of Pokrov Presvyatoy Bogoroditsy, also known as "na rvu", is situated in Kaluga on Marata Street, 4. It is the oldest surviving church in the city, built in 1687. Since 1960 it has been a monument of republican architectural significance. At the temple there operates a pilgrimage service since 1996, and inside there is a baptismal font for adult immersion baptism. After restoration, the church actively serves for regular worship services. The first written mention of the church dates back to 1593.
