Court Houses

The Presence Places in Kaluga form an architectural ensemble situated on the high bank of the Oka River. They consist of buildings arranged in the shape of the letter "P" designed by architect Pyotr Nikitin and the first Kaluga governor Mikhail Kretchenkov. Construction began in 1780 and was completed in 1809 under the supervision of gubernatorial architect Ivan Yasnygin. This site is a federal-level cultural heritage monument. During the War of 1812, one of the buildings served as a military hospital.
