Monument to the 600th Anniversary of Kaluga

The Monument to the 600th Anniversary of Kaluga is located near the bridge over the Oka River on Gagarin Street. In its center stands a 50-meter titanium pylon, with a bas-relief of a cosmonaut's head in a spacesuit featuring the features of Yuri Gagarin placed at a height of about 18 meters. At the base of the pylon, there is a large sphere symbolizing the Earth, which is why the locals call the monument "Sharik" (Little Ball). Along the street, there are six steles, five of which are decorated with bronze bas-reliefs depicting episodes from the city's history, cast at the Leningrad plant "Monumentskulptura".
