Nobility Assembly House

The House of the Nobility Assembly in Kaluga was built according to a St. Petersburg project, which the architect Pyotr Ivanovich Gusev adapted for the city. The building has a variable number of floors, with a three-story central part and two-story side wings, decorated with white pilasters with spiral scroll ornaments, and pediments are located above the windows of the central part. The project turned out to be so successful that it was recognized as a standard for noble houses in other provinces. In different years, the historical oath was taken here by Imam Shamil, art exhibitions featuring works by Shishkin, Levitan, and Repin were organized, and during the First World War, charitable funds were collected for the front.
